I’m Matt, -- a 3D Environment artist operating out of Ontario Canada. I’ve been working in the games industry for over a year now.

What got me started in Game Dev was my time spent pursuing a career in science. Although I enjoyed it, I just felt as though creating art was my real passion. So, I made the switch! I attended Niagara College for Game Development where I quickly became enamoured with digital illustration, 3D modeling and texturing and have been making art for games ever since.

After graduating I had the pleasure of competing in the Skills Ontario 3D Digital Game Art competition where I placed gold. Then moving onto represent Ontario at the Skills Canada 3D Digital Game Art competition in Vancouver where I placed silver, it was an awesome and surreal experience!

During this time, I also started a 3D artist internship at Creative Bytes Studios reporting to their talented art director Shawn Jackson. Once there I worked on their now released title Return to Grace. I then accepted a 3D modeler contract at Phantom Compass working on a soon to be announced title. These experiences allowed me to get a handle on industry standards and pick up many valuable tricks of the trade from veteran game developers while also getting the chance to meet some great people!

Currently I am employed by Niagara College as a part-time professor instructing softwares and techniques in 3D modeling, texturing and environment design. I welcomed the opportunity to share my art expertise with the next generation of game developers and teaching has been both rewarding and a learning experience for me.

I’ve been an artist for as long as I can remember. Inadvertently trying out various mediums as a child. Making boardgames for friends, trying to edit videos to look like action movies, and of course illustrating all the time. I look back fondly on how much I used to play video games and watch movies with my older brother and pulled inspiration from those sources before I even knew what that meant. That never changed I still regularly draw inspiration from these places to create the best possible artwork I can. All while learning new techniques and softwares along the way.

This is an extremely fun and interesting industry that is constantly being pushed forward. Seeing behind the curtain of games and making things for them is a truly special feeling. It’s with this passion for what I do that I would love to contribute to your next project.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to reach out!
